Untitled Document 35TH ANNUAL JUDICIAL CONFERENCE AND APPELLATE SEMINAR

Mark your calendars -- The court has scheduled its 35th Annual Judicial Conference and Appellate Seminar for Friday April 29, 2016. The conference will once again be held at the Manor House in Mason, Ohio.

This year's featured speaker is Judge John M. Cleland, a retired Pennsylvania senior trial judge who presided over the 2011 child molestation trial of former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, and also chaired the Interbranch Commission on Juvenile Justice, which investigated the infamous "kids for cash" scandal resulting in two Luzerne County trial judges eventually being sentenced to federal prison for judicial corruption. Judge Cleland's presentation will address "Individual Responsibility in the Face of Authority."

Additional speakers include 12th District Court Administrator Ben Manning, Ohio State Senator William Seitz, and Hamilton County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Mark Piepmeier, who will discuss lessons from the 1993 Lucasville Prison Riots.

Judges and attorneys in the 12th District should receive registration information by mail in the near future.
